Chapter 1: Bought by the Devil

The auction wasn’t public, but everyone who mattered was there.

Hidden behind a velvet curtain, Meher clutched the dupatta around her trembling body. Her father had gambled too much, and now she was the price. Just nineteen, barely out of college, and already sold like a secret.

The announcer’s voice echoed. “Property of Ranjit Kapoor, now transferred to Mr. Kabir Rathore.”

Kabir Rathore. 36. Cold-blooded, calculated, and cruel. The devil in a three-piece suit. He didn’t need a wife—he needed control.

When he stepped onto the stage to claim her, the crowd hushed. His eyes were obsidian, empty of mercy. He didn’t touch her. He didn’t need to.

“You belong to me now,” he said, voice low, menacing.

“I’m not your property,” Meher whispered, chin raised, defiant.

A slow smirk tugged at his lips. “You’ll learn, jaan.”

Her father’s signature was enough to bind her life to a man she didn’t know. And Kabir? He wasn’t interested in love. He wanted revenge—against her father. And Meher was his perfect pawn.

As the heavy doors shut behind her, Meher realized the truth: she hadn’t just lost her freedom… she had stepped into the lion’s den.

And the lion was watching her every breath.
